Abstract
The objective of this study is to explore the emotional reactions and internal conflicts of the main characters brought about by external events in “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Further, the present study depicts all the mental agonies and inner struggles that the characters go through. The study also attempts to step inside the characters’ psyche to decipher the real motives behind the characters’ actions or, sometimes, the motives behind their reactions. To what extend does the public humiliation incline the characters to reveal or conceal their true feelings and real identities? Furthermore, it delves deeply into the complex mentalities of the four main characters: Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Roger Chillingworth and Little Pearl. The study, nonetheless, concentrates upon the idea that a single sin can condemn the past and determine the future of the characters. Hester Prynne, in the Puritan society, commits the act of adultery with her unknown partner-in-sin and her husband Chillingworth promises to seek revenge upon her secret lover. Further, the themes of isolation and alienation, which are an inevitable result from the act of adultery and deep internal feelings of guilt, will be explicated in this paper.

ئامانجی سه‌ره‌كی له‌م توێژینه‌وه‌یه بریتیه له نیشاندانی كاردانه‌وه ده‌رونیه‌كان و وێناكردنی هه‌موو ئه‌و كێشه‌و گیروگرفته ده‌رونیانه‌ى كه هه‌ریه‌كه له كاراكته‌ره سه‌ره‌كیه‌كانی ئه‌م نۆڤڵه پێیدا تێپه‌ڕده‌بن كه سه‌رچاوه‌ى دروستبوونه‌كه‌شی هۆكاره ده‌ره‌كی و كێشه‌كانی ده‌وروبه‌ریانه. ئه‌م توێژینه‌وه هه‌وڵ ده‌دات به قووڵی بچێته ناو مێشك و كه‌سایه‌تی ئه‌م ئه‌كته‌رانه‌وه بۆ باشتر تێگه‌شتن له هه‌ڵس و كه‌وت وئه‌و په‌رچه‌كردارانه‌ى كه ئه‌كته‌ره‌كان هه‌یانه به‌رامبه‌ر ڕوداوه‌كانی ده‌وروبه‌ریان. تا چ ڕاده‌یه‌ك كۆمه‌ڵگا و تێڕوانینیان هۆكاره له پشت شاردنه‌وه‌ى كه‌سایه‌تی ڕاسته‌قینه‌ى ئه‌كته‌ره‌كان, به‌تایبه‌ت هه‌ر یه‌كه له سێ ئه‌كته‌ره سه‌ره‌كیه‌كه, هێسته‌ر, ئارپه‌ر و چیڵینگۆرپ. ئه‌م توێژینه‌وه به‌هه‌مان شێوه ئه‌و ڕاستیه‌ش نیشان ده‌دات كه چۆن تاكه تاوانێك ڕابردوى ئه‌نجامده‌ره‌كه‌ى ناشیرین ده‌كات و داهاتوشی له‌ناو ده‌بات. وه‌ك ئه‌وه‌ى به‌سه‌ر ئه‌كته‌رى سه‌ره‌كی هێسته‌ر دا دێـت. هه‌ره‌وه‌ها بابه‌ته گرنگه‌كانی وه‌كو خۆ په‌راوێزحستن و دووره‌په‌رێزی و ته‌نیایی له نۆڤڵه‌كه‌دا له‌م توێژینه‌وه‌دا باس ده‌كرێن.
الملخص
الهدف الرئيسي من البحث هو اظهار العوامل الاساسية التي تؤثر على افعال و ردود افعال ابطال القصة و طريقة تفكيرهم و طريقة تعاملهم مع المجتمع. ماهي دوافع المؤدية الى تلك الافعال و كيف يتغير شخصية الابطال مع الاحداث حولهم و طريقة النظر اليهم . لماذا لايستطيعون مواجهة المجتمع و يبحثون عن طرق اخرى لكي يخفون شخصياتهم الحقيقية خاصتا الابطال الرئيسة في القصة مثل: هيستر, ارثر و جيلينكورث. الهدف الاخر من البحث هو بيان وتأكيد الفكرة لان الخطأ واحد او الجريمة واحدة وهذا يلغي الماضي و يسود المستقبل مثل مايحدث لبطلة القصة هيستر. و الموضوعات الاساسية في القصة مثل, العزلة و الوحدة سيناقش و بالتفصيل في البحث.
